Corsa Rosa della Coesione, Stage 19: Treviso – San Martino di Castrozza
Today, the Giro starts in Treviso, a city that has hosted stages of this race on multiple occasions and also hosted a world road cycling time trial, and finishes in the mountains in San Martino di Castrozza.
For Corsa Rosa della Coesione and for a city like Treviso, with such close ties to cycling, we have selected the GreenWay cycling route that runs from Treviso to the seaside town of Jesolo.
This public works project was financed in part by cohesion policy funding, having received over €3.7 million from the European programme for the Veneto region (Veneto ERDF ROP) as part of the 2007-2013 programming cycle, and led to the creation of a cycling route that runs through Parco del Sile and along the Sile River from Treviso to the village of Torre Caigo, within the municipality of Jesolo, to support slow mobility (i.e. cycling, walking, boating). Based on monitoring data, the project began in 2014 and was completed in 2015 and, according to OpenCUP data, programming for the project began in 2011.
In San Martino di Castrozza, after 151 km of racing, we have selected the project Moon Walking on the Superb Dolomites, which was also co-financed with European funding (Veneto ERDF ROP) from the 2007-2013 programming cycle and engaged Gosaldo and other municipalities in the province of Belluno in a partnership between Belluno and municipalities in the region of Trentino aimed at providing the infrastructures needed to create trails for Nordic walking and mountain biking as well as bike paths and other projects for the sustainable development of tourism in the two territories.
Come back tomorrow for the penultimate stage!
