On 16 February 2005 the Kyoto Protocol, the first international treaty on the containment of climate-altering gas emissions, entered into force. In Italy, the latest "Report on the progress of the Partnership Agreement as at 31 December 2018" (August 2019), measures the support used for climate change objectives: it amounts to EUR 5,915 billion.
In conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which is celebrated on 25 November, the selection of projects to combat violence against women that are being financed by way of cohesion policies and have been published on the portal www.opencoesione.gov.it is being updated.
In Italy, 21 November is National Tree Day (Festa dell’Albero), established by law in 2013 to celebrate the importance of trees and forests.
To celebrate trees, OpenCoesione has chosen to publish a new Data Card.
World Teachers’ Day is a day to remember the crucial role teachers play in society and to recognise all those who impart knowledge and creativity to others each and every day.
The OpenCoesione data card published for World Teachers’ Day is intended as a particular recognition of the role of teachers who, beginning with the 2013-2014 school year, have participated in the innovative educational project known as At the School of OpenCohesion (ASOC).
Safe walking and cycling is the theme of European Mobility Week 2019, an initiative that the European Union has been promoting since 2002 in order to support sustainable mobility.
In line with this proposed focus, data published on the OpenCoesione portal (updated as at 30 June 2019) has been used as the basis to select projects related to bike routes that have been financed with both Italian and European funding.
The 30th Summer Universiade, also known as the World University Games and open to university students from around the world, competing in 18 different sports disciplines, begins today in Naples, Italy.
Running alongside the 2019 Giro d’Italia from the start in Bologna today to the arrival in Verona on 2 June, a total of 70 projects executed with cohesion funding in 12 regions have been selected, for a total cost of some €67 million.
For Italy’s National Day of the Seas on 11 April to promote marine awareness and a culture of protecting the sea, OpenCoesione is highlighting a number of projects funded by cohesion policy that take a somewhat different look at the sea.
Data Card - Italy’s National Day of Commemoration and Commitment for the innocent victims of organised crime
The first day of spring, 21 March, is also the date on which to celebrate Italy’s National Day of Commemoration and Commitment for the innocent victims of organised crime, which has been promoted, since 1996, by Libera in collaboration with numerous non-profit organisations and has since been officially recognised by way of Italian Law no. 20/2017.
